Cook smashes CCC to victory

Two great wins for the club
- Kim Berry

On a day when the weather was always going to be a factor the club gained to precious wins against Belbroughton who must deserve credit for wanting to ge the game on. Unfortunately we could not add to that due to the 3rd & 4th team games being abandoned against Eastnor & Martley respectively.

Yes 4 teams!! What a great effort to get 4 teams out as the school holidays start, long my it continue and we will be having serious discussions regarding going back to 4 teams for 2025

With the rain expected late afternoon at Belbroughton the visitors won the toss and fielded which allowed them to control the game & that is exactly what they did bowling out the home side for 98 with Jack Collins taking a magnificent 5 wickets for 26 off 15 overs, Jack was again well supported by his strike partner Savvy who has been a revelation for the club this season, Savvy finished with impressive figures of 8 overs 3 for 30

With the rain clouds gathering the opening partnership of Rob Cook & Sam Williams took the home bowling attack to the sword. Our captain hit a superb 59 in just 24 balls and Rob was ably supported by his partner whose 37 came off just 29 balls carrying CCC to victory in just 8.5 overs. With victory secured the heavens opened up! The 20 points secured takes in 2nd in the league.

Rounding off an even better Saturday our 2nd team claimed a rain effected victory over Belbroughton 2nd team who were superb in their attitude to playing the game despite a 2 hour rain break which impacted on the game. The visitors accumulated 132 for 8 when the rain came. Pick of the bowlers who restricted the runs were Charlie Clements who once again turned in a fine performance taking 3 for 9 off just 4 overs, Charlie was supported by Amaan who again bowled well for his 2 wickets. Rain then interrupted but with a will to get back on Colwall were set 103 from 24 overs and made hay in the gloom with Suk 35 & Christian 30no taking us to victory in just 12.4 overs.

With many games being abandoned it was truly a cracking day for the club which was then made even better by a fantastic day yesterday at the 6 a side. The club is in rude health, competition for places is high which can only be a good things so let make it another top weekend next week
