Colwall Cricket Club chose Bowel Cancer UK, in Hollie’s memory, as their charity for 2024.
On 16th July the annual cricket match between the Chairman’s XI and CLOGS (Colwall’s social team) raised £260. Kim Berry, the Chairman was victorious after a very competitive game, but Bowel Cancer UK was the main winner.
Colwall Cricket Club's annual 6-a-side Cricket Tournament and Fun Day took place on Sunday 21st July . The weather was wonderful and the day was enjoyed by many. Malvern Rugby Football Club’s team The Stags won the tournament and Tristan Robinson from the team was awarded Player of the Day. Numerous side stalls including a bouncy castle, game stalls, tombola, raffle and cake stall kept everyone entertained. A total of £1,132 was raised thanks to the generosity of the members.
A further £411 was raised from a match between the CLOGS and Freddie Coleman’s team. On a sunny afternoon the teams enjoyed a great game of cricket and tucked into an enormous cricket tea at half time. This was supplied by the CLOGS players bringing a 'plate' of delicious food, savoury and sweet. Freddie's team won the game and the afternoon was rounded off with a raffle, all prizes supplied by the teams.
The last social event of the year was the club’s End of Season Dinner and Awards Ceremony on 15th November. After a wonderful meal at The Worcestershire Golf Club they all enjoyed a fun game of Heads or Tails. This raised £418 for Bowel Cancer UK in Hollie's memory with the winner Andrew Heath donating his prize money of £50 into the fund.
A further £156 was raised from the charity boxes left on the bar throughout the season.
Hollie's family would like to express their thanks to everyone who has helped raise funds.
Since Hollie's passing in September 2023, £14,126 has been raised for Bowel Cancer UK in her memory.
